Metro Boomin is set to executive produce the upcoming St. Lunatics album, according to an announcement made by Nelly.
The St. Louis rap icon shared the news, confirming that the Grammy-winning producer will help shape the group’s next project — a major moment for fans of early 2000s hip-hop and Midwest rap.
The St. Lunatics — Ali, Murphy Lee, Kyjuan, City Spud, and Slo’Down — rose to national fame alongside Nelly, helping define a sound that dominated radio and charts in the early 2000s. With Metro Boomin on board, the new album is expected to blend the group’s signature style with a modern sonic edge.
As of now, we only know that it’ll be released next year but no date. It’ll be the St. Louis group’s first album in over two decades.
The collaboration represents a full-circle moment for Midwest hip-hop, linking one of today’s most influential producers with a group that helped shape the genre’s mainstream rise.
