BABY AMONG THREE HURT IN CHICAGO WEST SIDE CTA BUS CRASH

A serious crash on Chicago’s West Side Saturday night left three people injured after a driver allegedly ran a red light, causing a CTA bus to slam into an apartment building.

According to the WGN News, the collision happened around 9:19 p.m. at Washington Boulevard and Damen Avenue in the Near West Side. Investigators say a 32-year-old woman driving a white sedan failed to stop at a red light and struck a southbound bus operated by the Chicago Transit Authority.

The force of the impact pushed the bus off its route and into a nearby apartment building, causing visible damage to the front of the bus and minor structural damage to the building. Emergency crews quickly responded to the scene.

The driver, her 11-month-old child who was inside the vehicle, and a 59-year-old male passenger on the bus were transported to Stroger Hospital of Cook County in fair condition.

Police issued a citation to the sedan driver. The crash remains under investigation.
