A shooting at a Rhode Island ice skating rink Monday afternoon left multiple people dead and several others critically injured during a high school hockey game.
According to Fox News, the violence erupted inside the Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket around 2:30 p.m., sending players, parents, and spectators scrambling for safety. Authorities confirmed that three people were killed, including the suspected shooter, and three others were hospitalized in critical condition.
Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves described the shooting as a “targeted” incident that may have stemmed from a family-related dispute, though investigators are still working to determine the exact motive and sequence of events.
Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee released a statement expressing heartbreak over the tragedy and offering support to the victims’ families and the broader community.
Law enforcement agencies quickly secured the arena and confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains active as officials continue interviewing witnesses and reviewing evidence.
