A tragic crash along the Bishop Ford Freeway in Chicago’s Pullman neighborhood has left two people dead and three others injured, according to CBS Chicago.
According to Illinois State Police, the single-vehicle crash happened early Thursday morning along the northbound lanes of I-94 near 111th Street. An SUV reportedly overturned during the crash, resulting in two fatalities at the scene and multiple critical injuries.
Social media posts from community members and the CEO of Chicago’s Empire Dance confirmed the victims were members of the team. Dance team officials identified the victims as Lazarus Gonzalez (Hollywood), 25, and Bo Flemiste (Isiah), 17.
At least three others were transported to local hospitals, with reports indicating some are in critical condition.
The dance team CEO also confirmed that one of the injured victims is in grave condition, and another victim broke both legs.
Hours after the crash, members of the dance team were seen gathering near the scene, mourning the loss of their teammates.
Illinois State Police continue to investigate what led to the deadly rollover. No further details about the cause of the crash have been released at this time.
