A late-night trip to a fast-food drive-thru turned tense this week after a man allegedly threatened workers and made off with cash at a Chick-fil-A location in Atlanta, according to WSBTV.
According to police, the incident unfolded around 9:40 p.m. on March 17 along Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Investigators say the suspect pulled up to the drive-thru window and began threatening employees, demanding service. The situation escalated quickly, with the man allegedly making a chilling statement that caused workers to fear for their safety.
Instead of engaging, employees did what many safety experts recommend in volatile situations—they backed away. Workers reportedly fled from the window area, leaving the register accessible.
That’s when the suspect made his move.
Police say he reached through the drive-thru window and grabbed just over $200 in cash before fleeing the scene in a light-colored SUV. Despite the alarming nature of the encounter, no injuries were reported.
Authorities are now working to identify the suspect and are asking for the public’s help. Surveillance footage and witness accounts are expected to play a key role in the investigation.
