A teacher in Kankakee School District 111 has been fired after officials say she sent a racist email to fellow staff members, sparking outrage and swift disciplinary action.
The teacher, identified as Ksenia Matson, worked at Kennedy Middle School. According to district officials, Matson used her school email to send a message containing racially offensive language during a staff email chain. Once administrators became aware of the message, an investigation was launched.
The Kankakee School Board later voted unanimously to terminate Matson’s employment. Officials also rejected her resignation, choosing instead to issue a formal termination to reflect the seriousness of the incident.
District leaders stated they remain committed to maintaining a respectful and inclusive learning environment, emphasizing that racist behavior will not be tolerated within the district. The incident has since raised concern among parents and community members in the Kankakee area.
