Twenty people were injured Wednesday evening after a crash involving two CTA buses and a red sedan on Chicago’s West Side, according to Fox 32 Chicago.

The crash happened around 6:42 p.m. near Lake Street and Homan Avenue in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. Chicago police said the driver of the sedan allegedly ran a red light before colliding with one of the CTA buses. The impact caused the first bus to crash into a second CTA bus traveling nearby.
Officials said at least 20 people suffered injuries ranging from minor to serious. Several victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment, including at least one person reported in critical condition. Others were treated at the scene by paramedics.
The intersection was temporarily shut down as crews cleared debris and worked to remove the damaged vehicles. Traffic delays were reported in the surrounding area, which is a busy corridor for both commuters and public transit riders.
The Garfield Park community, which sees heavy bus and vehicle traffic throughout the day, has raised ongoing concerns about roadway safety in high-congestion areas.

The Subaru driver was taken to Stroger Hospital in unknown condition. However, police said he was stabilized and issued multiple citations.
Chicago police continue to investigate the crash and are expected to release additional information as it becomes available.
