A late-night shooting in Carpentersville turned a busy commercial area into an active crime scene early Saturday after gunfire erupted outside a local restaurant and bar.
Authorities say officers responded to reports of shots fired around 12:03 a.m. near Kings Road and Illinois Route 25. Upon arriving at the scene, police encountered an armed suspect who was reportedly still firing shots at another individual. Officers discharged their weapons, striking the suspect and bringing the incident to an end.
The shooting left visible damage to the front of La Ilusion Restaurant & Bar, where multiple apparent bullet holes could be seen. Evidence markers lined the sidewalk as investigators processed the scene. Nearby businesses, including a taqueria and supermarket located within the same shopping center, were also surrounded by police tape while authorities conducted their investigation.
Officials have confirmed that multiple people were injured during the incident, although the extent of those injuries has not yet been released. Police stated there is no ongoing threat to the community and reopened the area later Saturday morning. The investigation remains active, and authorities have not yet released the identity of the suspect or additional details surrounding the circumstances that led to the shooting.
