Police said the incident happened around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday at a Mobil gas station in the 800 block of East 63rd Street in the Englewood area. Investigators say a red SUV was driven directly into the building, causing significant damage to the front entrance.

After crashing into the business, the offender or offenders reportedly entered the gas station and stole an ATM. Police said the suspects then left the area in a gray-and-white SUV.

No injuries were reported in connection with the burglary.

The latest incident is part of a recent string of crash-and-grab burglaries targeting Chicago businesses, with gas stations and their ATMs becoming targets. In another incident earlier this month, police said thieves used a vehicle to crash into a gas station near East 95th Street and stole an ATM.

Just days ago, Chicago police also investigated a separate crash-and-grab at a gas station in Chatham, where a group allegedly used a white Jeep to repeatedly ram the business before several people entered the station.

In the latest Englewood case, detectives are now working to identify the people responsible and determine exactly how the burglary unfolded.

Police have not announced any arrests or released additional information about the suspects. The investigation remains ongoing.
