Houston attorney Steven Tyler Swain is facing a felony bestiality charge after his wife allegedly discovered disturbing footage involving the family dog on surveillance cameras installed inside their home.
According to court documents, Swain’s wife placed the cameras inside their West Houston residence while contractors were working on the property. When she reviewed footage recorded in November 2025, she allegedly recognized her husband and the family’s small black dog, Shipley.
Swain’s wife reportedly removed Shipley from the home and contacted the Houston SPCA. The organization then turned the footage over to Harris County Precinct 1 investigators, leading to a criminal investigation.
Swain, 56, is the principal attorney at The Swain Law Firm and reportedly specializes in wills, trusts and probate matters. He has practiced law in Houston since 1997.
A warrant was issued for Swain in May. He later turned himself in and was released on a reported $75,000 bond. His case remains pending in Harris County’s 183rd District Court.
Shipley is reportedly safe and remains in the care of Swain’s wife. Authorities have not publicly alleged that the dog suffered physical injuries.
Swain has not been convicted and is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
