CHICAGO- Chicago Area Detectives and Cook County Crime Stoppers are seeking to the public for assistance following the fatal shooting of a 27-year-old woman in Chicago’s West Woodlawn neighborhood on Labor Day morning.
On Monday, September 7, 2026, at approximately 7:25 AM, Chicago police officers responded to a call in the 6300 block of South Vernon Avenue.
Upon arrival, emergency responders located 27-year-old Deja Williams inside a residence suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

She succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
No official arrests have been announced, and police are continuing to investigate the homicide.
Live Eyewitness Accounts and Family Testimony Across Social Media
Following the shooting, alleged accounts surrounding Williams’ final hours emerged online through social media videos that have since been deleted.
In one since-deleted Facebook Live video, a woman named Tee Bradley, who stated she was present at the time of the shooting, claimed that two masked gunmen entered the residence through Williams’ window and opened fire.
Bradley alleged that she immediately ran out of the home and called police. Bradley also alleged that she then saw the gunmen drive off in a Black Honda.
Jaime recalled that the last time she allegedly saw Williams’ in person was the Friday prior to the shooting, adding that their final text message exchange allegedly took place around 3:10 AM on Monday morning.

Jaime further shared that she allegedly received a phone call around 8:30 AM on Monday morning informing her that her sister had passed away.
Up to $10,000 Cash Reward Offered
Cook County Crime Stoppers has issued an official bulletin offering a cash reward of up to $10,000, for information leading to the indictment or arrest of the individual or individuals responsible.
Authorities emphasize that any suspect involved should be considered armed and dangerous and warn the public not to attempt to apprehend anyone directly.
