67-YEAR-OLD MAN SHOT AND KILLED ON CHICAGO’S NEAR WEST SIDE

A 67-year-old man was shot and killed on Chicago’s West Side, adding to ongoing concerns about gun violence across the city, according to WGN News.

According to police, Jerry Lewis was on his lunch break when the incident took place, and he was approached by two armed suspects who pulled out guns and opened fire, striking him in the head.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found Lewis suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency crews attempted to provide aid, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Details about what led up to the shooting remain Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether the Lewis was the intended target.

According to the family, Lewis was a successful Chicago contractor and developer who was instrumental in Project 1901, the $7-billion development of property around the United Center.

An investigation by Chicago police is ongoing. Two people of interest were taken into custody and are being questioned.
