TRUE CHICAGO HOSTS THEIR ANNUAL CONFERENCE AT THE CHICAGO HISTORY MUSEUM

On Sunday, October 6th True Chicago held their annual True Chicago Conference at the Chicago History Museum. This Conference is dedicated to young adults who are learning about artistry, production, and professionalism in the industry. Many leaders in our community showed up and showed out for the youth who are aspiring to know what it takes to succeed in their dreams.

The museum was filled with many impactful artists, influencers, athletes and industry professionals who spoke to the community about success and how to stay present in the journey. One of the athletes that stood out was Linnae Harper, professional basketball player from the east side of Chicago who played for the Chicago Sky. She gave insight on how the sky is not the limit and to keep striving no matter what obstacles you face. We also had activist Chairman Allen Washington who is the founder of KNVS and Director of Arts & Culture at Healthy Hood Chi. He gave great insight on how to show up in spaces, “Be where your feet are” implying to be as present as you can wherever you are.

The conference wrapped up with keynote speaker, Coodie Simmons. Coodie is a filmmaker and screenwriter from Chicago. He gave a very informative speech on how to stay focused even when the community holds distractions. He provided insight on how his upbringing molded him into the man he is today, but also took time to reflect on how to let certain habits go to fuel his purpose in creating.
