Rihanna enters “her blue era” in the trailer for the upcoming Smurfs, which sees her playing Smurfette. Although this isn’t a album from Rihanna, it still puts the smile on her fans as well as the Smurf fans because she’s giving us new songs and is the character of everyone’s favorite Smurf…Smurfette .
Along with Rihanna the voice cast includes James Corden, Nick Offerman, JP Karliak, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Natasha Lyonne, Sandra Oh, Octavia Spencer, Nick Kroll, Hannah Waddingham, Alex Winter, Maya Erskine, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña with Kurt Russell and John Goodman.
The trailer starts off with Rihanna’s character — self-identifying as “the coolest Smurf in the whole village” — giving viewers a guide through Smurf Village, where “everyday is a party.” But the colony’s dance party to Rihanna’s own “Don’t Stop the Music” is cut short when Papa Smurf (John Goodman) is mysteriously taken by evil wizards, Razamel and Gargamel, Smurfette (Rihanna) leads the Smurfs on a mission into the real world to save him. With the help of new friends, the Smurfs must discover what defines their destiny to save the universe.
“Smurfs” will hit theaters on July 18. Watch the trailer below.
