A Chicago man had his charges dropped against him after spending almost 30 years in jail for a murder that he didn’t commit.
It’s been one month since 45 year old Robert Johnson, was freed after spending nearly 30 years in prison for a Chicago murder that happened back in 1996.
Johnson, at age 16, was arrested in connection of the April 14, 1996 murder of Eddie Binion who was shot and killed in a robbery in his apartment on the South Side.
The Cook County prosecutor’s office formally dropped the charges today.
No physical evidence or other witnesses ever linked Johnson to the murder.
