A Pennsylvania woman found out she won the lottery for $2.5 million and then realized she lost the ticket after leaving it in an old jacket that she donated to charity.

Mildred Simoneriluto bought a Cash 5 lottery ticket at a grocery store in Murrysville in May 2024. She was excited when she discovered she won, but couldn’t find the actual ticket, which Pennsylvania Lottery officials said she needed in order to get the earnings.

Simoeriluto explained that she tried to retrace her steps, she recalled that she placed the ticket in her jacket, which she had since donated to Vietnam Veterans of America, a charity that distributes collected items worldwide.

Authorities with the Pennsylvania Lottery told Simeriluto she must have the lottery ticket in person and by May 8th to claim the jackpot, but that ticket could be anywhere in the world.
