WOMAN SET ON FIRE DURING ARGUMENT ON CHICAGO TRAIN

26-year-old woman is fighting for her life after a man doused her with liquid and set her on fire during an argument on a CTA Blue Line train in the Loop Monday night, according to Chicago police.

The attack happened around 9:25 p.m. as the train was approaching the Clark/Lake station. Police say the man — believed to be around 45 years old — poured an unknown liquid on the woman during a verbal dispute, then ignited it, setting her on fire inside the rail car.

As the train pulled into the station, the suspect ran off. The woman managed to get off the train but collapsed on the platform, where bystanders helped extinguish the flames before first responders arrived. She suffered severe burns to her body and face and was rushed to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

Police say no arrests have been made, and arson detectives are investigating. Authorities have not released the victim’s name, and a detailed description of the suspect has not yet been made public.
