A Georgia family is demanding answers after a teenage girl was left with severe burns when a group of middle school girls allegedly threw an unknown chemical on her during a fight, according to WSB-TV.
The incident reportedly happened in Villa Rica, Georgia, during a confrontation that stemmed from ongoing bullying. According to the victim’s mom, Aspen Clark, the teen was approached by several girls and, during the altercation, a liquid believed to be a chemical — possibly mixed with extremely hot water — was thrown onto her body.
The victim suffered second- and third-degree burns, with her family describing the injuries as so severe that her skin began to peel and blister almost immediately. She was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she continues to receive treatment for her injuries.
Family members say the girl had been bullied for months leading up to the attack and believe the group came prepared, allegedly bringing the liquid in a cup. Video of the incident has reportedly been turned over to police as part of the investigation.
Authorities have not yet confirmed what substance was used and say the case remains under investigation. No arrests or charges have been announced at this time.
