Lil King is one of Chicago’s rising voices coming straight out of Englewood, bringing raw emotion, real-life storytelling, and a relentless work ethic to the forefront. Representing the South Side with authenticity, he’s quickly building momentum through consistent visuals, high-energy performances, and records that connect.
Tracks like “Crying on the Floor,” “Off Black,” the “Late” remix, and “Fight for Love” showcase his ability to balance vulnerability with street perspective—giving listeners both pain and passion in every verse. His sound reflects not just where he’s from, but what he’s been through.
Carrying a legacy with him, Lil King is the son of the late King The Hood Savior—adding deeper meaning and purpose behind his grind as he continues to carve out his own lane in the industry.
Now signed to Capitol/Priority Records, Lil King is positioned as one of the next names to break out of Chicago.

Q&A WITH LIL KING (May 2025)
- When you started your music journey, where was your confidence?
- My confidence was high because I was having fun with it.
- Who was your biggest inspiration growing up?
- My uncle.
- Did you ever want to give up along the way?
- Yeah, a couple of times… actually, a lot of times.
- What’s something you feel you need to work on as an artist?
- Networking more.
- When did you decide to take your music career seriously?
- Around 2020. My uncle, who was my dad’s manager before he passed, discovered I rapped and wanted to push me. That’s when I started taking it seriously.
- Where do you see yourself in the future?
- Honestly, I don’t know right now.
- Are you pursuing a record deal or staying independent? Why?
- I’m currently on a record deal with Capitol Priority. I feel like other artists are coming up, but I also believe you can succeed independently if you have the courage.
- What was the process of creating your last project?
- Overall, it was easy. But for my June 6th release, it was a bit harder because there were so many good songs and I wanted to include as many as I could.
- What are your favorite music videos that you’ve created and why?
- “Late” and “Crying on the Floor.” “Late” put me on the map, and “Crying on the Floor” perfectly matched the message of the song with the visuals.
- What has been a highlight moment in your career?
- Realizing I had to finish what my uncle started after he passed. That was my biggest motivation.
- Do you write your own music?
- Yes, all of it.
- Do you think ghostwriters can be beneficial?
- Not always. I do take notes from my brothers sometimes, but I mostly write my own material.
- Are there any artists you’d like to collaborate with?
- Outside Chicago, SZA. Locally, I’d say Polo G.
- What’s your favorite thing about being an artist?
- Recognition. Knowing people notice my work, especially being able to encourage kids, is everything.
- Any exclusive fun facts about you?
- I don’t really have one. I share my life openly and keep fans updated on everything they see.
- What’s a guilty pleasure of yours?
- I love designer clothes and spend way too much money on them.
- What never fails to make you smile?
- My daughter.
