Sherrionn is a singer, songwriter, and audio engineer from Chicago, known for her soulful music that blends narrative and genuine emotion. Growing up in a musical family, her love for music started early as she performed Erykah Badu songs with her brother. With a mother who was a vocalist and a father who was a signed rapper, music is deeply ingrained in her.
With roots in show choir and creative development through Donda’s House, she evolved into a fully self-sufficient artist—writing, recording, and engineering her own music after earning her degree from Tribeca Flashpoint. After spending time in Atlanta, she returned to Chicago in 2025, bringing a developed sound and renewed determination. With captivating vocals and authentic lyrics, Sherrionn continues to establish herself as an independent artist, proficient both in front of the microphone and behind the mixing boards.

Q&A WITH SHERRION (May 2025)
- When you started your music journey, what was your confidence level like?
- Honestly, it was really low. I didn’t truly know myself at that time.
- Who was your biggest inspiration while growing up?
- I don’t want to sound overly profound, but I believe my life experiences are my biggest inspiration. I could mention specific artists or eras, like the ’90s or early 2000s, but I tend to go with the flow of life, and I evolve every day. So, yeah.
- Did you ever want to give up during the process?
- Absolutely, yes, every day. I just had to pick myself back up and remind myself that I can create when I’m sad or tired. You feel me? So, I’m still pushing forward.
- What would you say is something you need to work on as an artist?
- It’s similar to what I mentioned regarding the trivia questions—expectations. I need to learn to let go of control and just trust the process, believing that what’s meant for me will happen regardless.
- So, at what point did you decide to take your musical career seriously?
- In 2018. That’s when I released my first single. I also started teaching myself how to mix and master my own music around 2017.Â
- Where do you see yourself in the future?
- I hate to sound too spiritual, but I’ll go wherever God takes me. I know I want to be worldwide, and that’s where I’m headed if I continue to pursue it.
- Are you seeking to secure a record deal, or would you like to remain independent?
- I’m open to whatever makes sense for my career. I’m neutral about it; I’ll go with whatever works best.
- What was the process of creating your last project?
- My last project? Oh, that was “Horse in the Bag.” It actually started as a joke until my right-hand man, TCF Live, said, “No, we need to put this out.” So we created the “From the Block” video, and that’s how it came together. It was a lot of fun!
- What are your favorite visuals that you have created, and why do you like them?
- Although it’s not out yet, it offers a unique perspective. It has a very cinematic quality and reveals a side of me that no one has seen before.
- What is a highlight moment in your career that encouraged you to pursue music?
- One significant moment was when I received my first set of musical equipment. Despite facing negative circumstances, that experience truly motivated me to take action. It pushed me to teach myself how to record and not wait for anyone else to help me. That’s where it all started for me—I began teaching myself how to record.
- Do you write your own music?
- I do, but I just started collaborating with writers. Yeah, because sometimes we need other. People need to let go of their egos. Whatever it takes to make the song or project fire, you should do it. As long as you feel comfortable with it and it represents you well, right?
- Would you be interested in collaborating? If so, who would you want to work with?
- I consider myself a people person and am open to collaborating with anyone. I prefer not to name specific individuals because I enjoy being open to possibilities. I love mixing things up, so if anyone wants to work with me, I’m all in.
- Are there any specific Chicago artists you have in mind?
- Whoever! Honestly, all of us are talented because we’re from Chicago. If you want to collaborate, I’m all in!
- What is your favorite thing about being an artist?
- That I have no limitations. I can do whatever I want. Whatever I feel, I can create it out of thin air.
- What’s an exclusive fun fact about you?
- Coffee is my favorite drink. They probably know that, but yeah, I really love coffee. I even came in here with coffee. I did a freestyle called “Coffee Run.” It makes me happy.
- What’s a guilty pleasure of yours?
- Oh, a guilty pleasure… I don’t really know. I don’t think I have any guilty pleasures. Well, maybe shopping? When I’m feeling down, I tend to spend money. I like to buy clothes and things I don’t really need. So, yeah, I guess shopping is one for me!
- What never fails to make you smile?
- Energy. The energy of people like you—do you feel me? When I’m around genuine people who know how to be themselves, it allows me to mirror them.
