NASCAR is returning to Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet in 2027.

The Chicago Street Race will not return in 2027.
The decision comes after Chicagoland Speedway’s sellout NASCAR return in 2026.
NASCAR fans in the Chicago area will have to head back to the suburbs next summer, according to ABC 7 Chicago.

NASCAR announced that Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois, will remain on the 2027 schedule, meaning the racing action will not return to the streets of downtown Chicago next year. The three-day race weekend is scheduled for June 25 through June 27, 2027.
The weekend will feature multiple NASCAR series, beginning with the ARCA Menards Series on Friday, followed by the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series on Saturday and the NASCAR Cup Series on Sunday.
The announcement comes after NASCAR made its highly anticipated return to Chicagoland Speedway in 2026. The Joliet track had not hosted a NASCAR event since 2019 before returning to the schedule this year.
The 2026 comeback proved to be a major draw, with the event selling out and attracting fans from all 50 states and 31 countries. NASCAR said nearly 60% of ticketholders attended their first NASCAR event.

That strong response appears to have helped secure the track’s place on the 2027 calendar.
The decision also means the popular NASCAR Chicago Street Race, which brought racing through downtown Chicago and Grant Park from 2023 through 2025, will remain off the schedule for another year.
While NASCAR is not returning to downtown Chicago in 2027, the organization says it remains committed to the greater Chicago market and has not ruled out bringing the street race back in the future.
For Chicago-area racing fans, that means Joliet is once again the place to be when NASCAR rolls into the region next summer.
