Jennifer Harris, 39, a mother of six and longtime McDonald’s manager, was fatally stabbed Thursday morning at the McDonald’s on 9 Mile Road in Eastpointe, Michigan. According to Michigan State Police, the incident began after Harris sent her employee Afeni Muhammad home early following an argument. She later returned with a knife and attacked Harris inside the restaurant, where she had worked for 15 years.
During the assault, a customer in the drive-thru witnessed the attack and fired a shot into the air in an attempt to stop it. No one was struck by the gunfire. When officers arrived, they found Harris with stab wounds and the customer holding the Muhammad at gunpoint.
Videos circulating on social media appear to show Afeni Muhammad expressing frustration over workplace issues prior to the incident. In the clips, she reportedly speaks about feeling disrespected by management and claims employees’ hours were being unfairly cut, saying it “had to stop.”
Authorities have not confirmed whether the videos were recorded before or after the attack.
