CHICAGO STANDS WITH MINNEAPOLIS: MAYOR JOHNSON JOINS “ICE OUT OF EVERYWHERE” EMERGENCY PROTEST

CHICAGO- Despite the biting cold and falling snow, Chicagoans gathered this past Sunday at the intersection of Ida B. Wells and Michigan Avenue for an emergency protest that sent a clear message to the nation: Chicago stands with Minneapolis and demands justice.

The “ICE OUT EVERYWHERE” rally, organized by the Coalition Against The Trump Agenda, saw a significant show of solidarity as Mayor Brandon Johnson took to the microphone to stand with the people of Chicago and Minneapolis.

“We have somebody like ICE storming our communities and kidnapping our families,” Mayor Johnson said speaking to protesters.

“We are not okay with ICE killing and shooting innocent people without impunity.”

The emergency protest was ignited by the tragic killing of Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse in Minneapolis this past Saturday.

The incident has sparked a wave of “Emergency Responses” across the country, highlighting deep-seated tensions regarding federal law enforcement actions.

Later in Mayor Johnson’s message to the crowd he clearly stated: “It is time to abolish ICE.”

“We have made it absolutely clear… send Greg Bovino out!” , referring to the public face of President Donald Trump’s mass deportation campaign.

The protest specifically challenged the current administration’s immigration policies, with signs throughout the crowd reading “Stop the Trump Agenda” and “Justice for all murdered by ICE and CBP.”

The rally showcased a diverse coalition of Chicagoans. Mayor Johnson pointed to the crowd as a symbol of the city’s collective strength, mentioning that the fight for humanity includes everyone: Black, Brown, White, and Asian communities.

“We are coming together as one to defend our humanity,” Johnson said. “Chicago stands with Minneapolis. We stand with this country to defend the honor of working people.”

The event concluded with a call to keep organizing and pushing for legislative changes that protect immigrant communities and ensure accountability for federal agencies.
