A Chicago rapper is now tied to a serious federal case after authorities say he was involved in a violent home invasion in north suburban Winnetka.

According to reports from NBC Chicago and Fox 32 Chicago, Isaiah Dukes — known professionally as Lil Zay Osama — is among seven men arrested in connection with the incident.

WHAT HAPPENED

Prosecutors say the home invasion happened in broad daylight after one of the suspects allegedly posed as a delivery worker to get the person inside to open the front door.

Authorities say the suspects then forced their way inside at gunpoint, held the victim captive for about an hour, and demanded access to a safe, computer, valuables, and online accounts connected to cryptocurrency.

WHO WAS CHARGED

The defendants named in the federal indictment include Isaiah Dukes, also known as Lil Zay Osama; Dashun Brown, 24, of Chicago; David Franklin, 24, of Chicago; Anthony Ramsey, 22, of Chicago; Khiell Dukes, 30, of Elgin; and Jalen Chambers, 24, of Bourbonnais.

A seventh suspect was also arrested, with prosecutors saying a criminal complaint was expected for his alleged role in the home invasion.

THE CHARGES

The men have been indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit kidnapping. All of the defendants have pleaded not guilty.

Federal prosecutors say the suspects face serious charges, including a possible life sentence if convicted on the kidnapping conspiracy count.

OFFICIAL RESPONSE

U.S. Attorney Andrew Boutros said authorities moved quickly with federal and local law enforcement partners to disrupt what he described as a violent criminal conspiracy.
