Mariam Creighton, a member of the volleyball program at Albany State University, was tragically killed at an Atlanta lounge early Sunday morning. Police responded to a call regarding a person being shot at the Elleven45 Lounge at 2110 Peachtree Road NW around 2:30 a.m. Upon arrival, they found six individuals who had been shot.

Creighton, who was only 21 years old, was a talented volleyball player who attended Albany State University, an HBCU in Georgia.

Officials say there was a dispute inside the club that led to a physical fight — that erupted into gunfire. They say it appears that there was one shooter and they’re working to find out how the gun got past club security and who was the intended target.

A 20-year-old man was also killed in the gunfire, and four others were shot but survived.
