13 PEOPLE ARRESTED IN MEMPHIS AFTER $250K FRIED CHICKEN HEIST

Thirteen people were arrested in Memphis after allegedly being caught unloading $250,000 worth of stolen chicken from a semi-truck. Authorities also recovered firearms, drugs and approximately $110,000 in stolen merchandise.

A group of 13 people was arrested in Memphis after authorities allegedly caught them unloading stolen pallets of chicken from a semi-truck.

The Memphis Safe Task Force reportedly found 33-year-old Javunte Johnson and 12 others behind an Economy Inn on Lamar Avenue near Old Getwell Road. Authorities said the chicken inside the 18-wheeler was valued at approximately $250,000.

Several people attempted to flee after officers arrived, but authorities said everyone involved was eventually captured.

During the investigation, Memphis police recovered approximately $110,000 worth of stolen merchandise, three firearms and drugs believed to include fentanyl and cocaine.

Johnson, who reportedly had an outstanding warrant connected to an aggravated robbery, was charged with aggravated robbery, felony theft and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.

Quantrivious Shavers, 25, and Jessie Moore, 37, were also charged with being convicted felons in possession of firearms. Shavers faces an additional fentanyl-related charge, while Samuel Jackson, 38, was charged with possessing cocaine with the intent to manufacture, deliver or sell.

The remaining suspects face charges that include felony theft, drug possession and evading arrest.

Although authorities reported that 13 people were arrested, Memphis police publicly listed charges against 12 individuals. The investigation remains ongoing.

All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
