FLORIDA QUADRIPLEGIC FACING CHARGES AFTER HITTING COP WITH WHEELCHAIR

A quadriplegic man is facing two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer after video shows him hitting an officer with his wheelchair claiming that they were “manhandling him.”

32-year-old, Bryant Amastha struck an officer with his motorized wheelchair after they were called to his police response to a dispute between Amastha and his mother at their home in southwest Miami-Dade’s Quail Heights area back in May.

Amastha’s mother was arrested which caused him to get irritable and take it out on the officer with his wheelchair.

As the officers took his mother to their vehicle, Amastha appeared to accelerate down his driveway to ram one of the officers in the legs, as he accused the cop of ‘laughing at’ him.

He was then arrested on charges of battery on a law enforcement officer.

Before the body cam footage was released, Amastha reported that everything they said he did was false.

The judge ordered Amastha stay away from the officer if they happened to cross paths.

A spokesperson for Miami-Dade police said the department had not received any complaints about the incident and it was the first they had heard of any allegations of a rough arrest or of wheelchair damage.
