A 57-year-old woman was killed after being pinned in part of an O’Hare Airport conveyor belt system, authorities said.
The woman, who was not an employee of the airport, was found trapped in a conveyor belt in Terminal 5—the international terminal—and died at the scene, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
Surveillance video showed the woman entering an unoccupied restricted area just before 2:30 a.m., a police spokesperson said.
She was discovered at approximately 7:30 a.m., police said, and emergency responders were called to the scene.
The area has been declared a crime scene, and the Chicago Police Department is investigating.
