5 WOUNDED, 3 FATAL IN CHICAGO MASS SHOOTING

On Monday afternoon, eight people were shot, three of them fatally, during a social gathering at a residence in the Gage Park neighborhood of Chicago, according to a police official.

According to told NBC Chicago. At least three people were hospitalized in critical condition, while another victim was stabilized at a medical facility, according to officials from the Chicago Fire Department.

Chicago Police Chief of Patrol John Hein said that the shooting happened while a social gathering was taking place. Police were called about a person shot at a residence shortly after 2 p.m., he said.

Police reported that four men and four women, all of Hispanic descent and aged between 20 and 35, were among the victims. Three of the men succumbed to their injuries. On Tuesday morning, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that two of the victims were 26 and 28 years old.

All of the victims were shot inside the home while a social gathering was taking place, police said.

CPD’s Chief of Patrol Jon Hein said, “There have been calls of service at this house” before, but the most chaotic call for service happened Monday with loved ones seen visibly distraught – crying and screaming.

Neighbors said a party took place prior to the shooting. There was loud music and at least 20 attendees inside.
