NISSAN DEALERSHIP GIFTS WISCONSIN WOMAN NEW CAR AFTER FINDING RACIAL SLUR ON OIL CHANGE STICKER

The West Allis, Wisconsin woman who found a racial slur on her oil change sticker was gifted a brand new electric car. Not from the dealership that left the sticker, but from one in New York.

Makayla Starks took her car in for an oil change at Kunes Buick GMC, 7020 S. 27th St. in Oak Creek, Wisconsin during the first week of January.

When she got her car back, Starks found the N-word printed on the oil change sticker.“Initially I just sat in my car for about 20 minutes and cried,” she said.

After the appointment, Starks said, she got calls from the dealership, claiming they left a tool in her car that needed to be removed in an attempt to retrieve a sticker with a racial slur left behind in the vehicle.

News of the incident spread to a dealership nearly 900 miles away, just outside New York City. Owner Ramzey Rizk reached out with a helping hand.

The Long Island dealership says it decided to gift Starks a Nissan Leaf from its fleet.

“The idea for the electric model is so she doesn’t have to get an oil change and remember the hateful incident,” explained Ramzey Rizk of Family Nissan.

The Long Island dealership has also arranged to transport Starks’ new car to her home in Wisconsin.
