Footage showed high-powered speedboat races across the lake before suddenly taking a horrifying, unexpected turn, launching into the air, flipping several times, and crashing violently into the water with a massive splash.
The shocking incident occurred during an event called Desert Storm, held annually in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
This major boating event attracts hundreds of competitors and thousands of spectators from across the country, who come to witness high-powered watercraft and speedboats racing at incredible speeds to determine the fastest boats in the world. The drivers of Freedom One Racing are attempting to break the lake’s speed record of 206 mph.
According to Havasu News, despite the severity of the crash, the passengers aboard the boat miraculously sustained only minor injuries and were quickly treated by emergency crews on scene.
