WOMAN KILLED IN CRASH ON I-55 IN CHICAGO’S SOUTH SUBURBS

A tragic crash on I-55 early Monday morning claimed the life of a 21-year-old woman from Morris, Illinois. According to Illinois State Police, the single-vehicle accident happened around 3:20 a.m. on the southbound side of I-55 near Route 53 in Bolingbrook.

Troopers arrived at the scene to find a green Subaru Forester in a ditch off the highway. The woman, who was a passenger in the car, was seriously injured and rushed to a hospital in Downers Grove, where she later died. Her name has not yet been released pending notification of family.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured and remained on the scene. Authorities have not confirmed what caused the crash, and the investigation is ongoing. The right lane of I-55 remained closed for several hours during the morning commute as investigators worked the scene.
