TEXAS TEEN KARMELO ANTHONY INDICTED FOR MURDER IN HIGH SCHOOL TRACK MEET STABBING

Karmelo Anthony, a 17-year-old from Texas, has been indicted on a first-degree murder charge for the fatal stabbing of fellow teen Austin Metcalf during a high school track meet in Frisco on April 2.

Authorities say the stabbing happened after a dispute over seating. Though Anthony claims it was self-defense, a grand jury found enough evidence to indict him.

Initially jailed on a $1 million bond, his bail was reduced to $250,000, and he was released on house arrest.

If convicted, Anthony could face a possible sentence of 5-99 years or life in prison. In the Texas criminal justice system, 17-year-olds are considered adults. His case will now move forward in Texas criminal court.
