YOUNG THUG SHARES HIS THOUGHTS ON WHERE RAP IS NOW

Last night during his concert in Atlanta, Young Thug weighed in on the state of hip-hop, saying rap feels “in a weird place” following the highly publicized Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef. While the clash dominated headlines and social media, Thug suggested it didn’t necessarily push the culture forward in a meaningful way. Instead, he feels the genre has been left in an awkward moment, with a lot of attention on conflict rather than creativity.

Thug made it clear he doesn’t think rap is dying or lacking talent. However, he believes many artists are playing it safe, chasing trends, and failing to bring fresh energy or bold ideas to the forefront. In his view, hip-hop needs to move beyond beef-driven moments and return to strong individuality, innovation, and larger-than-life artistry that once defined the genre.
