ILLINOIS STUDENT AMARI LEWIS MAKES HISTORY WITH NATIONAL TRÄCK RECORD

The Chicago-area track and field community is celebrating an impressive young talent from Aurora. Amari Lewis, a seventh grader at Herget Middle School, delivered a standout performance at the AAU Northern National Indoor Championships, competing against top athletes from across the nation.

According to CBS News, Amari earned three gold medals, winning the 60-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash, and 400-meter dash. His performance in the 200 meters was especially remarkable, as he set a national record for his age group. Thanks to his dominance across multiple events, he was also named Track MVP of the meet.

His success highlights the strength of youth athletics in Aurora and the greater Chicago area, serving as inspiration for young runners with big goals. With achievements like these already under his belt, Amari’s future in track and field looks extremely bright.
