Liam and his Father reunited with community after court mandated release from Texas detention center.
A Minneapolis home is whole again today. Following their release from a Texas detention center, preschooler Liam Conejo Ramos and his father, Adrian, arrived back in the Twin Cities yesterday—ending a harrowing over a week-long ordeal after a court intervention demanded immigrant agents and the center to realize the family.
On Saturday, U.S. District Judge Fred Biery ordered the immediate release of Adrian Alexander Conejo Ramos and his young son, commanding government officials to free the pair “as soon as practicable.” The father and son had been in ICE custody since their arrest in Minnesota earlier this month.
Texas Rep. Joaquin Castro , accompanied Liam and his father on their journey home. Castro posted X this Sunday that he had picked up the pair and personally ensured their safe return to Minnesota.
“Liam is home now. With his hat and his backpack,” the Congressman said on the app.
The father and son are being held at the South Texas Detention Center following their arrest. Columbia Heights school district officials allege that federal immigration agents used the young boy, Liam, as “bait” to lure his family members out of their home as he returned from school.
According to, CBS News, “Representatives for Liam and his father said the family is from Ecuador and that they entered the U.S. in 2024 under a now-defunct Biden-era system that allowed asylum-seekers to use a phone app to schedule an appointment to be processed at an official border entry.”
In an additional video posted by the Congressman, viewers can see Liam’s father caring him after being released from the Diley Detention Center, last night.
Texas Rep. Joaquin Castro states, “Liam and his Dad walked out of Dilley detention center last night. They should have never been there in the first place. Thanks to your voices and outcry, they are now free.”
The five-year-old is also seen in another video posted to socials receiving his own wings pin in the cockpit of his flight home to Minneapolis.
In a biting critique, U.S. District Judge Fred Biery stated that the case was born from the government’s pursuit of daily deportation quotas. Biery, who has served since the Clinton administration, characterized the execution of these policies as both “ill-conceived” and “incompetently-implemented,” noting a disregard for the emotional well-being of minors.
