A Colorado man has found himself behind bars after attempting to kidnap a boy at Black Forest Hills elementary School in Aurora on Friday afternoon.

Solomon Galligan, 33, walked onto school property and approached several children on Friday afternoon and tried to grab a boy before leaving the area, an Aurora police spokesman told CBS News Colorado on Sunday.

Black Forest Hills Elementary Principal Amanda Replogle alerted parents of the incident in an email that was sent after school got out on Friday informing them that the incident occurred during one of the recess hours and that school staff met and will continue to meet to discuss what happened. Just after 3 p.m. on Sunday, the school district sent out an email to Black Forest Hills Elementary parents informing them that the person they mentioned in the earlier messages has since been arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping.

According to CBS News, Galligan is facing a single charge of attempted kidnapping and is currently detained in the Arapahoe County Jail with a bond set at $25,000. He is scheduled for a court appearance on Monday morning. While the specifics of Galligan’s prior sex offense were not immediately evident since he was not listed in the state’s sex offender registry, court documents reveal a 2012 conviction in Jefferson County related to failing to register as a sex offender.
