A 61-year-old man, Keith McAllister, tragically died after being pulled into an MRI machine at a facility in Westbury, Long Island on July 16, 2025. He was wearing a 20-pound metal chain while accompanying his wife to her scan.
As he entered the MRI room, the powerful magnetic field grabbed the chain and pulled him into the machine. He went limp in his wife’s arms and suffered multiple heart attacks. He died the next day.

MRI machines use extremely strong magnets, and metal is strictly prohibited in MRI rooms. Experts say even small metal objects can become deadly projectiles.
An investigation is ongoing. The facility has not yet commented.
