A social media stunt nearly turned deadly after Anthony McNary was shot in the neck when armed thieves showed up at his home, allegedly believing he had large amounts of cash inside, according to Fox 59.
According to posts McNary later shared online, he admitted he had posted a fake photo on Facebook showing stacks of money, not expecting anyone to take it seriously. Instead, the post reportedly caught the attention of criminals who believed the cash was real and worth targeting.
McNary says armed suspects came to his door, and during the encounter, he was shot in the neck. Despite the severity of the injury, he survived and is currently recovering. Authorities have not released extensive details about the shooting, and it remains unclear whether any arrests have been made.
