A mother of six named tragically lost her life when a stray bullet hit her in the head while she was driving home in Indiana.
This shooting happened late Friday as Kia Tidwell was passing a McDonald’s in Gary, where police were already responding to a disturbance.
While on the scene, officers heard a commotion near Lincoln Street and approached a large group of people. Shots erupted from behind an apartment building. Police said Tidwell was struck by the gunfire causing her to crash her car into a tree.
Tidwell was on the phone with her oldest daughter, Islynn, when a bullet hit her in the head while she was driving home to Portage.
Tidwell was pronounced dead on the scene and no arrests were made.
Kia’s family is asking Gary police to step up the investigation.
A GoFundMe was created to help the family.
