Parents’ worst nightmare is receiving a notification that their child’s school is on lockdown due to a safety threat.

Schools in Florida have been receiving the highest number of threats. Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood has expressed his frustration with children making threats against schools.

“Since parents you don’t want to raise your kids, I’m gonna start raising them. Every time we make an arrest, your kid’s photo is going to be put out there, and if I could do it, I’m gonna perp walk your kid so that everybody can see what your kid is up to. They keep sending in these tips and think it’s a big joke… we’re gonna publicly shame them and their parents.”

Sheriff Chitwood promises to post students on social media who make fake threats, along with their parents, regardless of age or how the threat was made. He also vows to ensure that everyone knows what each student does on the daily.

Following the arrest Dorelli yesterday, Chitwood revealed his department had spent nearly $21,000 investigating a multitude of hoax school shootings since September 13th.

Should other schools around the U.S. follow handle threats like this?
