A 37-year-old man was fatally shot outside his wedding reception in a parking lot in Greensboro, North Carolina.
A love story quickly turned into a nightmare as Greensboro police responded to a shooting at a wedding reception. Tyrek Burton, 37, had known his wife for several years before tying the knot on Saturday, October 12th. He was known as a father figure to her two children and a loving family member to others.
According to Fox News, the family recalls that after the wedding reception, Burton walked outside for a brief moment to recover something. In the parking lot, he was approached by a stranger with road rage. The stranger berated Burton for being cut off earlier on the road when Burton responded, “If I did, I’m sorry.”
The apology was met with violence as the stranger proceeded to shoot him in front of his newlywed wife. After the shooting, the suspect managed to escape and still has not been identified. Burton’s family is hoping the public can help identify the suspect so they can receive justice for their loved one. An award is being offered for any information that leads to detainment.
Brittany Burton, Tyrek’s sister, stated, “See something, say something…. There’s doorbell cameras out there matching the same description.”
