Gunfire hit a Spirit Airlines flight to Haiti on Monday, injuring a flight attendant, as the State Department warned of “gang-led efforts” to stop travel to the country.

Spirit confirmed in a statement that one of its flights from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, was diverted to the Dominican Republic on Monday. NBC Nightly showed a video from an employee with an inspection of the aircraft showed damage consistent with gunfire.

It added that the aircraft has been taken out of service, and Spirit services to Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haitien have been suspended. US-based carriers JetBlue and American Airlines have also cancelled flights to and from Haiti until Thursday.

While none of the guests on board were injured, one flight attendant on the aircraft reported minor injuries and was being evaluated by medical personnel. All flights to Port-au-Prince’s Toussaint Louverture International Airport have been suspended until Nov. 18th, according to Haiti’s civil aviation authority.
