Two young boys, ages 5 and 6, were shot at Feather River Adventist School, a small private Christian elementary school in Butte County, California. The suspected gunman is dead from what authorities believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to ABC News, the sheriff stated that the suspected shooter had met with the principal earlier that day to discuss enrolling a student at the school, which serves students from kindergarten to 8th grade and has a total of 35 enrolled. A few minutes later, screams and gunshots were heard. Both boys were quickly rushed to the hospital, with one being transported by helicopter.

Students were evacuated to the Oroville Church of the Nazarene to reunite with their families. Authorities say the suspect arrived at the school in a gray sedan, possibly a rideshare vehicle, and had no known connection to the school or the victims.
