A Florida man is recovering after being run over by a Jeep while sunbathing on a beach.
According to ABC News, 33-year-old Coleson Janey from Ocala was lying on the sand in Ormond Beach on over the weekend when Volusia County Deputies said the 61 year old driver left the travel lanes, backed into a parking spot and ran over the man’s head and body.
“I guess I had maybe fallen asleep for a little bit and then I woke up to a tire coming over my head,” Janey said.
Janey said EMTs arrived quickly, reset his leg and loaded him into the ambulance. However, according to Janeyās aunt, Ronda Storms, the ride to the hospital was anything but smooth.
“I have a forearm that’s broken in two places,” Janey said. “And then my femur, which was broken that they just had to put a titanium rod in yesterday.”
The driver ended up staying on the scene, spoke with investigators, and she was ultimately cited for careless driving. Deputies said there were no signs of impairment ā just, apparently, a spectacular lack of spatial awareness.
The Volusia Sheriff’s Office said the crash investigation is still active and continuing.
