D’Anthony Reaves, a 44-year-old Atlanta father of 20 children, was shot and killed early Saturday morning near the Greyhound bus station on Forsyth Street SW. Police say he was found dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds after an argument with a man who had just arrived by bus.
Reaves, known as the “life of the party,” was a father to 12 biological and 8 stepchildren. His family says he was passionate about helping other fathers and had plans to launch a program called “Power for the Fathers.”
A person of interest is in custody, and police believe the shooting may have stemmed from a robbery attempt. Reaves’ family held a candlelight vigil in his memory and are calling on state leaders to strengthen gun laws and improve safety at transportation hubs.
The investigation is ongoing.
