An Uber Eats driver was killed while making a late-night delivery on Chicago’s West Side, authorities confirmed.

28-year-old Daniel L. Figueroa, had just completed a drop-off in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago around 2 a.m. when the incident happened. He was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Police are investigating the case as a homicide.
Investigators believe that Figueroa may have been targeted in a robbery or carjacking. His vehicle was reportedly missing from the scene. A person of interest has been taken into custody, but no charges have been announced.
Figueroa was described by loved ones as hardworking and devoted to his family. He was delivering for Uber Eats at the time of his death.
