TSA STAFFING SHORTAGES LEAD TO LINES SPILLING INTO THE PARKING GARAGE AT NEW ORLEANS AIRPORT

Travelers flying out of Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) faced chaos this week as TSA lines stretched all the way into the airport’s parking garage. The delays come amid staffing shortages caused by the ongoing partial federal government shutdown, leaving many Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents working without pay or calling out.

Reports indicate that at peak times, lines snaked from the parking garage through the check-in areas and up to the second-floor TSA checkpoint, leaving passengers frustrated and worried about missing flights. Some travelers reported wait times of two hours or more, forcing officials to urge passengers to arrive at least three hours before their scheduled departures.

According to WDSU News, this issue is not unique to New Orleans, as airports across the country—including Houston and Atlanta—are experiencing similar delays. Travelers have taken to social media to share images and videos of the massive crowds, showing just how long the security lines have become.

Officials advise all passengers to plan extra time, monitor airline updates, and be prepared for potential flight delays until staffing levels stabilize.
