CHICAGO LAKE MICHIGAN RESCUE: 7 PEOPLE SAVED AFTER BOAT OVERTURNS

Three people were hospitalized after a boat carrying seven people capsized on Lake Michigan near Chicago, prompting a large emergency response from the Chicago Fire Department according to Fox 32 Chicago.

The incident happened after crashing into rocks near Morgan Point on Tuesday evening. Emergency crews responded after receiving reports of a boat in distress on the water.

According to the Chicago Fire Department, all seven people aboard the vessel were safely rescued from Lake Michigan near 47th street. Three individuals were transported to local hospitals in good condition for evaluation and treatment, while the remaining four people declined medical attention at the scene.

Firefighters and marine units worked quickly to reach the overturned boat and bring everyone safely back to shore. It was reported that recovery took nearly 2 hours long. Officials have not released the identities or ages of those involved, and no fatalities were reported.

The cause of the boat capsizing has not yet been determined. Authorities are continuing to investigate what led to the incident and whether weather conditions, mechanical issues, or other factors played a role.
