A man was found deceased from a gunshot wound inside a house that was on fire in the South Side of the city on Saturday morning, according to Chicago police. Officers responded to the scene after receiving a report of the fire in the 4900 block of South Cornell Avenue in the East Hyde Park neighborhood shortly before 6:30 a.m.

Authorities discovered the 47-year-old man, who was unresponsive and had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. He was later pronounced dead. The fire has been extinguished, but it is still unclear how it started or who fired the weapon.
